To register as a member of the LiveModern website:

1. Begin by clicking on the "join" link in the upper right corner of the page, or the "New user?" link in the log-in box, which is located in the left hand column, just above the navigation links.
2. Clicking on either of these links will open a registration form that has several fields, all of which are required:
• Full Name—Please provide your real name. This will be visible on the LiveModern website.
• User Name—Please note that your User Name is case sensitive, meaning that you have to use the exact same User Name to login to the LiveModern website, including any capitalized letters.
• Email—Please provide an email address at which you can normally be reached. A temporary password will immediately be emailed to this account (see below), as will be occassional notices about updates to the LiveModern website. By providing your email address at registration, you "opt-in" to receive these emails from LiveModern. We will not make your email address available outside LiveModern. If you have questions, please refer to our privacy policy.
3. Fill in these fields and click the "Register" button. Once your registration has been processed, you will be sent an email message with a randomly-generated temporary password. Check the email account of the address you provided in Step 2.

4. If you do not receive this email soon (Subject="Portal Membership Information"), you did not provide a deliverable email address to an account that you checked. Please try again, being careful to enter a deliverable email address, or contact the LiveModern webmaster) with the User Name that you registered.

5. Your temporary password is included in the email that we send to you. Point your browser to our site, and enter your User Name and temporary Password into the "log in" box.

6. If you enter your User Name or temporary Password incorrectly—both of which are case sensitive—you will be notified by a "Log-in failure" page. Please enter your account information correctly, including any capital letters.

7. Immediately, you should be directed to a page prompting you to change your password. This is to protect you from malicious use of the temporary password we sent you via email. Enter your new password into two fields, both of which are required:
• New Password—Your new password can be anything you like (5 character minimum), but for your security we recommend using more than 5 characters, at least one of which is a number.
• Confirm Password—Enter your new password again, exactly as you did in the previous field.
8. Once you have successfuly changed your password, you will be prompted to enter your member preferences. Follow the instructions on the Preferences page.
