Lighten Dark Shower with Interior Window? Good Questions

Q: My brother just bought a 100 year old home in San Francisco. It has a lot of character and needs some work. He is first tackling one of the bathrooms. It is a traditional Victorian split. The sink

It is a traditional Victorian split. The sink and toliet are on one side and the shower is separated. His wife and I voted to keep it as a split. The issue is that the shower is dark. There is a large window on the sink side. I suggested an interior window or something like glass blocks between the two, likely up high and frosted. Has anyone done something similar and could provide a linked image?
