With windows running the length of the studio, even on the rare gloomy day in Santa Barbara the space is always bright and open. I’ve also managed to make the studio feel more like a one-bedroom – having a full separate kitchen is key, and arranging the furniture to evoke different living areas means that guests don’t feel like they are intruding into the bedroom. I've filled my house with handmade items including my headboard, bench and globe lights (all made with a little help from my handyman dad). I’ve blended my belongings with items I've collected from my travels - the Moroccan rug and hanging wedding blanket were snapped up on a trip to Africa last year, and little keepsakes from vacations/work trips to places like Paris and Tokyo make my space unique.
