I absolutely love the dark ceiling here balanced with the light sofa. And look at that fireplace.  Wow.

I find the curves of this room, both the walls and ceilings breathtaking.  And the crazy colors in the Eames chairs:  yellow in the background and green on the lounger. Where did they find those?

Here they used stained and polished plywood to add an interesting texture to the ceiling. Very clever and inexpensive option.

This all got me thinking about our ceilings. We have gorgeous (cedar I think) ceilings throughout our house, except in the kitchen and family room where they were dry-walled over. (These are the realtor photos from when we got the house; we have removed wallpaper, painted, etc. But these show the ceilings the best.)

The ones in the bathroom are in bad shape from years of moisture. And I started thinking maybe the teak oil would work here too? Does anyone have experience with this kind of ceiling in a bathroom and how to care for it? Since teak oil seems so magical, I may just have to go for it or do a little patch test.

Thanks to Houzz for reminding me how much I love our floors on the ceiling and the warmth it brings to the house. Some people do feel it’s dark and oppressive but I like it. Do any of you have floors on the ceilings and photos you want to share? Please email me and I will post them!
