The Ottoman is a classic furniture staple. It was introduced to Europe in the 18th century from Turkey, where it functioned as a central seating piece and was piled with cushions. Though the ottoman has evolved from its original forms, it is still a favorite furniture piece – and an extremely versatile one.

The Large Ottoman:

Larger Ottomans like the Otto To Go by 407 Furniture are a great addition to any room. These versatile pieces can be used as footstools, coffee tables, side tables, or even small loungers. Add a tray, like FTF Design Studio’s 1.5 serving tray and you have a perfect, multi-functional coffee table. Or move the ottoman to the corner, lean some pillows against the wall, and create a makeshift sofa.

The Small Ottoman:

Perfect for use as a footstool or individual seat, the smaller ottomans can be easily moved around a room. As an added bonus the Upcycle Ottoman from Visseo is made from “upcycled” jute coffee bean bags; these accent pieces add color, style, and originality.

The Modern Look:

The Pangea from Phase Design is the ultimate modern ottoman. The three individual components have a sculptural feel and can be positioned together or apart in a myriad of formations. These multi-purpose ottomans are also perfect as stools or side tables or can be configured to make a contemporary lounger.
