The Bathing Beauties exhibition has moved to Scarborough Art Gallery where it will be 'Re-imagining the Beach Hut for the 21st Century' until May 9. Longstanding readers of Shedworking will know all about it but for those still to encounter this marvellous show here's some information: "This exhibition is an innovative and engaging look at the architecture of beach hut design. It evolved from the Bathing Beauties, a Hub touring exhibition which inspired 240 architects, artists and designers from 15 countries to compete for commissions to build their 21st century designs on the Lincolnshire coast. The best 100 models will be on show here in Scarborough." It also features photos of Scarborough’s very own beach huts by Graham Shackleton and events run alongside it include Friday 26 March, 12.30 – 1.30pm Michael Trainor, Curator of Bathing Beauties, reflects on the international project ‘to reimagine the British beach hut for the 21st century’ Thur 8 April, 11am – 4pm As part of the Bathing Beauties exhibition the gallery has constructed a row of small beach for children to decorate throughout the day. Thursay 15 April, 11am – 1pm and 2 – 4pm Emma Renhard and Wayne Martin, costume and fashion lecturers, will be setting up a temporary design studio. They will be showing participants how to make simple beach wear from paper! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday posts are sponsored by Extraspace, the flat-packed, man-portable expandable garden building experts.
