This will be the first of many posts detailing the building of our new house. First off my ultimate dream would be to find a mid century home that needed some love. I have come to the realization that this will not happen for us in the area we want to live. So, whats next? We can’t afford a custom home, cross that off the list. That leaves us with the wonderful world of tract housing or those neighborhoods that look like the same house over and over and over.

We met with several builders in our area and brought our list of “can we” with us. Over and over again we heard the same thing, “no sorry we can’t do that”. We finally met with a builder that was fairly new to our area. I had already crossed them off my list because they use vinyl siding, I hate that crap.

The builder was Viking Homes and as we went down our list of “can we” they kept saying “yes” without giving us the butt tax. I can’t have everything so I had to settle with the vinyl siding. Here are some image of the exterior as we have it now. I have also included some inspirational photos that I want to try and emulate.

The siding will be Arctic white. The rest of the house will be painted white including all exterior doors. The stone is from Eldrado Stone, Style is Stacked stone and the color is Alder Wood (see last two pics). That is all for now, if you have any input on styling or any other ideas I would love to hear them.

P.S. don’t hate me for my “plastic wrapped house in the dirt” that’s what I have been calling it. Make the jump to see more.
