Here is a picture of the punched panel vegetated wall framework. It consist of 4'x8' galvanized 1/2" hole punched 18 gauge panels attached to 1"x2" steel standoffs. We wanted something that would look good while the cross vine took a couple of years to envelope the wall. Not all the pieces are in yet and it still needs the trim pieces broken and some tightening up, but you get the idea.
