Like a snowflake, no two BroadWay Armchairs are alike. Designed and created by artist and industrial designer Boris Bally, this cool modern chair is created entirely out of recycled post-consumer materials. As part of his Transit Series the BroadWay Armchair is created by hand-forming, pressing and riveting recovered signs using all the bold graphics and bright colors that street signs use as his color pallet.

Because they are created using whatever signs happen to be available at the time, each BroadWay Armchair is creatively assembled in its own unique style. All the scratches and scrapes of normal sign wear and tear remain as a testament to its earlier life as environmental graphics. The feet are even created with old recycled champagne corks.  The only thing not re-purposed in this awesome urban armchair is the hardware used to construct it.

Having worked as a sign maker and because of my fascination for old signs, I was particularly interested in these urban artifacts  from the moment I first saw tone. The Broadway Armchair is a monument to the gritty American city environment and give me an appreciation for the iconic works of urban art that surrounds us all the time. Colors and graphics that have become all by invisible to us as we travel around in our daily lives are suddenly brand new and exciting.

This chair is great for an urban loft, a finished garage, a man cave or even a living room that is in need of a bold graphic piece of modern furniture. It is ideal for those who like to be conspicuously environmentally conscious and it is as much of a piece of urban sculpture as it is functional modern furniture. These solid metal chairs are heavy and nearly indestructible made from thick, sign grade steel and will last forever.

You can buy the BroadWay Armchair and other pieces from the Transit Series by Boris Bally are available from Artfulhome.com.
