London-based designer Sebastian Bergne has been commissioned by LEGO for a project during the London Design Festival. Entitled the “LEGO Greenhouse”, this large-scale installation will be on display in the North Piazza, LEGO and Covent Garden, a world-renowned cultural district.
Made entirely out of the iconic building blocks, this installation helps demonstrate how LEGO could be used in a public space in the real world. Drawing from Covent Garden’s design heritage and cultural history, Bergne created a transparent greenhouse structure with a pitched roof. Inside, the plants are not made from LEGO, but in fact, are real. I think it would be so cool to see this in person. This installation begs the question: it possible that life-sized LEGOs could be used to build structures?
