maracanaPortuguese architect Andre Chiote had channeled World Cup fever into an ongoing poster series that focuses on the architecture of the 12 stadiums in which World Cup matches are currently being played. Chiote, whose previous self-initiated graphic design projects have featured stylized images of iconic built works from around the globe, has created a suite of 5 compositions (thus far) that zero in on the stadiums’ distinctive decorative details. Riding the wave of the minimalist poster craze, Chiote’s signature style of tightly cropped, dramatic close-ups render the buildings near-abstractions, with generous swathes of sunny yellow paying homage to Brazil’s equatorial heat. amazoniamineiraomanefonte-nova
