Built in 1910, and one of the early harborside homes in the city of Auckland, the original 20th Century structure was bridged, quite literally, to the 21st Century, thanks to a sublime interior segue which leads to a brand new, exacting replica next door. Auckland-based architectural practice Fearon Hay, in a brilliant move, doubled the house’s footprint by creating a twin structure and an airy kitchen that doubles as a courtyard-like connection between old and new. The resulting home is one of exquisite symmetry, extending, rather than besmirching the original home’s elegance. Talk about a value added proposition!0d144207cc978a6cdd8d4ffed972d4a4a2e7dff1ca1a374366af32fb796b56deScreen shot 2014-08-26 at 7.42.24 AMScreen shot 2014-08-26 at 7.42.33 AMScreen shot 2014-08-26 at 7.42.20 AMScreen shot 2014-08-26 at 7.42.46 AMScreen shot 2014-08-26 at 7.42.38 AM37d5c59596830141d6b9d65d69cdc7acScreen shot 2014-08-26 at 7.42.52 AMScreen shot 2014-08-26 at 7.43.07 AM
