07_A2_LetterpressWith 3D printing being all the rage, don’t blame London’s New North Press for wanting a piece of the action. In an attempt to bridge the gap between mankind’s original printing technology—letterpress printing—and its most novel—3D printing—the letterpress print studio has added to its vast library of fonts a font that works on a traditional letterpress as easily as it does on a 3D printer. Designed by the type designers A2-Type, and fabricated by model makers Chalk Studios, the A23D font, and the project that brought it to fruition, is the subject of a documentary film to be shown during this year’s London Design Festival.
