No one ever accused Jeff Koons of thinking small. His outsized sculptures, their matching price tags (and, some say, his weighty ego) have made him the art world’s most prominent name (see more on that here). And this week, Arkansas’ Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, scored big, too, when Hanging Heart (Gold/Magenta), a sculpture acquired directly from the artist last fall, was finally installed on the museum’s premises.

The impossibly shiny, mirror-polished stainless steel heart, one in a series of five unique heart sculptures created between 1994 and 2006, is, according to Koons, “a symbol of warmth, humanity, spirituality, and romance.” It’s also really bigmeasuring a colossal 9 feet in height and weighing in at a formidable 3,500 pounds.
