00-LifestyleBy now, the dangers of sitting for too long are well enough documented, but designers remain a few steps behind in fulfilling a decidedly 21st Century need for non-traditional work stations. Which makes Plunk a welcome relief. A compact standing desk designed by Erin Strater, Plunk smartly addresses a trio of modern day issues—ergonomics, customization, and travel—and does it style, to boot. Comprised of a graceful bent plywood and wood veneer desktop, and adjustable brass or nickel tripod base, Plunk is designed with the transient esthete in mind. Weighing a mere 8 pounds, the desk dismantles, without tools, into a brief case-sized carrying case, and can be just as easily assembled upon arrival. No wonder we feel like giving Plunk a standing ovation. 01_Wal_Nickel04_Wal_Nickel02-Hero
