Modern architecture built for the Summer. This modern Australian home was originally built in a Spanish style, which included an open courtyard in the middle, but new owners gave it the modern upgrade you see above. They maintained the Spanish-style courtyard in the middle, but covered it with a translucent battened roof (below), which is the central component of the home. And what better to put in this space, than a living wall?! Modern indoor/outdoor dining space with contemporary outdoor lighting fixtures. You can see this beautiful indoor/outdoor hub of the home in the image above. The rich, wood paneling is installed throughout the house giving it a very linear, modern feel. Contemporary outdoor lighting fixtures  like this  hanging pendant light  are a treat in this outdoor dining space. A white ceiling fan keeps this modern living room cool. It's as though the colorful striped area rug and books help maintain the linear affect of the wood paneling throughout the house... but with color! White ceiling fans are great for homes with low ceilings because they feel less heavy in the space. They essentially disappear into a white ceiling, leaving only their breeze to be noticed... The transformation from traditional architecture to modern architecture of this home (while maintaining some traditional elements, like the courtyard) is incredibly successful and truly stunning.
