It’s safe to say that that this colorful leather skull cap, bearing a geometric design by the late artist Sol LeWitt, may be amongst his most unusual limited edition works of art. The Star of David design was one LeWitt created for an installation at the Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek synagogue in Connecticut, a building that LeWitt had co-designed with the architect Stephen Lloyd. Years after the artist’s death, digital printing technology has made possible the rendering of LeWitt’s temple design onto the yarmulke, and the synagogue has made it available for purchase through Artware Editions.
