Well, don’t we wish we were spending the weekend in front of this little number! Alas, it’s a concept-only project from Dutch designer Robert Bronwasser, who runs the design studio Smool, and bemoans the “technical black shrine constructed of hard plastic” that defines standard TV construction. Bronwasser is proposing Homedia, a bit of TV eye candy that allows for visually integrating TVs into the overall aesthetic of the home interior. Softly curved, fabric encased and awash in color, Bronwasser’s prototype presents TV as a design accessory, accorded the kind of careful consideration reserved for sofas, coffee tables and magazine holders. “Television becomes personal, earning the role of a high quality shape shifter adding intimacy and identity to any room.”
