Anderssen & Voll’s TUBU barstool, on view at this week’s London Design Festival, borrows Bombo’s novel gas-powered technology, whereby an internal gas piston allows the height of the seat to be adjusted.

TIBU’s considerably more reductive design—a linear vertical stem, bookended by circular seat and base—is comprised of tubular steel, while the soft seat, covered in Kvadrat fabric, hides a small button on its underside from which the stool’s height may be adjusted. In service of a single unifying form, TIBU’s Kvadrat fabrics were assigned colors that sync up seamlessly with their steel bases. “Colour is important in uniting the piece and supporting the story. In this, we were giving each part of the product the same importance,” explain the designers.
