No wonder, then, his Sparkle stools and tables for Kartell astound for their uncanny replication of weighty cut glass, dazzlingly realized in Kartell’s trademark (lightweight) polycarbonate.

The Sparkle collection’s faceted surface, created by a process of polycarbonate ‘pleating,’ is something of a technological breakthrough, each twist of material resulting in a reflecting and refracting of light to mesmerizing crystalline effect. First unveiled at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2013, the Sparkle collection will be presented at this year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile in a range of new colorways, from bright yellow to smokey grey—fresh hues which lend the pieces an air of contemporary informality without ceding an ounce of their jewel-like splendor.l2_p349146_2200_1515-1-1l2_p349146_2200_1515-3
