Grandi Bianchi is an ensemble of interior devices with an inherent genetic link. An elementary storage unit, four voids in a block, is affected to comply with types and formats of furniture, from one scale to another, until the limits of a room. Logics of formal manipulation specific to digital modeling are applied to the primitive logic of hard assembly, that undergoes stretchings and constrictions. The variation in marble thicknesses reveals the amalgam behind the design of the object. This architectural furniture ranges from consoles to porticos.

Grandi Bianchi is a collaboration between Bernard Dubois and Paris based architects La Ville Rayée. Furniture edition for Balice Hertling Gallery. Produced in Italy by Dalle Nogare.

Le Soleil Est Rare is designed with the gallery in mind. At the same time it is universal: site-specific and non site-specific.
Le Soleil Est Rare is designed to be always redesigned. The identity of each piece changes with the re-arrangement of the whole. Function is reduced to a standardized choice of heights.

This project therefore proposes a challenge to the ‘functional’ obsession of contemporary design: instead of trying to invent new functions, or attempt to perfect existing functions, it invites us to discover ways to use it, as in a game (even storage becomes a form of fluid hide-and-seek).

Interior design and furniture edition for Balice Hertling & Lewis, New-York.
