If you think you can avoid the Acapulco Chair, think again. That distinctive three-legged 50′s icon, named for the Mexican resort that made it famous, is everywhere, and with good reason. With its airy, linear profile and available range of exuberant colors, it’s an outdoor show-stopper in both ambiance and looks.

And with no known inventor, designers and manufacturers have steadily cranked out various iterations in size, shape and materials. Our particular favorite version is by Brooklyn’s Greenpointworks, which has chosen to reduce the carbon footprint of the traditionally Mexican-made Acapulco by creating a locally crafted model, made with American made materials.

The solid steel frame comes woven with two options: Classic Acapulco, with its outdoor-friendly vinyl cording, complete with UV inhibitors for lasting color and lifespan; and Acapulco City, an indoor version, given a faintly urban, leather corded makeover. Both are available in custom colors and various combinations of frame and cord.
