There is no easier way to update a room than with decorative throw pillows. All it takes is a few pillows to spruce up a couch, chair, or bed. Decorative throw pillows allow you to instantly change the mood in your home, whether you’re seeking a traditional, modern, or eclectic look. When selecting decorative throw pillows for your design , using an odd number is best. Try one, three, or five, depending on the size of your furniture and the look you want (one for a chair, three or five for a standard 88-inch sofa). You really can’t have too many pillows, and if the mix of patterns or designs isn’t working for you, just add more! If you’re stuck on where to begin with pillows, try using one pattern plus one solid pillow. This simple mix can have a big impact, and you can use any combination of bold colors. For a slightly more complex combination, use one bold pattern and one small pattern, or one with a different texture. For a modern look, it is advised to use a limited color palette and large geometric prints on smooth, tightly woven fabrics, like cotton and linen. If you prefer to use lots of colors, try pulling from a piece of artwork. A few larger pillows creates a streamlined look, as opposed to many smaller pillows. If you want a traditional look, forgo the rule of odds and place 2 pillows on each side of the sofa to impart a sense of symmetry and order. Try using luxurious fabrics like velvet or silk, as well as fringe trim and layer a variety of colors, patterns, and textures to keep things interesting. For those who like to throw caution the wind, you can always create an eclectic feel with your pillows. For a casual air, try two pillows in one corner with a third at the opposite end – the pillows should look like they just happened to be there. Use pillows of different colors and patterns but similar size to tie it all together. Also make sure there is at least one color in all the pillows to keep it from looking completely random. Become a designer and combine any mixture of pillows you find interesting. Try placing the pillows in different places on the couch and experiment until you find the best combination!  Now it’s time to consider the fill of the throw pillows. A feather-and-down fill has more squish, and it’s also the most expensive. Foam and other synthetic fills are stiffer. They hold their shape, but feel less luxurious.  Discover our wide range of decorative throw pillows perfect for any home décor. Take risks with bold patterns, textures, and colors for a truly unique home. Image source: Euro Style Lighting
