In the face of an economic downturn and crunched housing market that has show us just how many “cookie cutter”, contractor designed, “flip-the-garage to the other side of the house and now it’s different than your neighbors”, beige houses there are flooding the market, the more obvious that homes with a modern styling crafted by the unique touch of a skilled architect really do stand apart. Enter architectural firm Terry & Terry Architecture of  Bekeley, California. Of their collection of residential projects that caught my eye the Alvarado Residence in San Francisco is the one I found most interesting. From the outside it screams modern but inside there is a twist on the modern feel of this house. Various elements hint at the  homes original Victorian styling  trough details that give the home a modern yet eclectic feel.  From the traditional stair case  surrounded by ornate molding and then contrasted with its modern industrial steel railing. To the claw foot tub elegantly placed in a minimalist clean lined bathroom. This is just one of the great looking projects that showcase why the services of architects like Terry & Terry Architecture are well worth the investment.
