Love this guest post: I work in the marketing department of an accounting firm with offices in Buffalo, Batavia and Rochester, NY. It may not seem like the most glamorous job, but within the field of accounting, we need people to put their “right brain” to use often too, and we recently worked on a fun project we wanted to share with other design enthusiasts.
Recently our firm Freed Maxick CPAs was faced with the task to take a good look at our current brand identity and create something new to represent us in the marketplace. It’s not often that a graphic designer or marketing team has the opportunity to be a part of a company’s rebranding, so we all considered ourselves to be lucky to have a part in designing the new Freed Maxick logo and corporate identity. We underwent a thorough branding survey and this research helped us to better understand ourselves as a firm and get a sense of how others see us as well. The survey results were both educational and exciting to hear, and we learned that there were several key themes that developed. It’s these key themes that were the basis for designing our new logo… and it’s because of them that our logo actually stands for something.
We are often inspired by other industries and expecially the design world, so the entire process was really interesting for us.
Now that our new brand has been developed and we’re beginning to roll it out, we wanted to share an inside look at the creative process, something you may not often see from many accounting firms. It’s a totally different side from the numbers and other typical “left brain” aspects of an accounting firm. The video we created was incredibly fun to film and used a form of stop animation to show our creative process in designing a new look and logo.
We love the feel of the video and had a blast creating it. Our marketing team worked with local creative agency Block Club Creative to put together the video, and collaborated with them throughout the entire process. It was a team effort and we are very proud of the final result. Our co-worker Jen even hand modeled!
I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we had fun making it, and we hope you’ll get a little inspiration from us….even from a field like accounting! This video is to show our take on the creative process and is a little something fun, right at tax time! Check out our video on our YouTube channel.
