We can’t think of a more uplifting way to begin the week than with the joyful paintings of Amsterdam-based artist and designer, Mariska Meijers. In addition to a successful a line of colorful home accessories, Meijers has, with no formal art training, managed to parlay her love of color and pattern into vibrant still lifes and interior vignettes, chock-full of evocative objects and expanses of decorative repeat motifs.

“Accuracy is never achieved in my paintings and rarely even attempted. Instead I keep a free interpretation of the objects through emphasis on color and pattern. I stir a cocktail of objects, patterns and colors in my thoughts which I translate straight on to my canvas.” She has quiet a talent for potent cocktails, we say.
