These days, working from home is fast becoming the norm, rather than the exception. Modern home office design is definitely reflecting this trend towards telecommuting and home-based business. Even if your home office is more for paying bills, you'll most likely be spending a good chunk of your day in there, so why not make it stylish and a place you'll enjoy spending a few hours? The furniture arrangement in the above office is perfect if you have more than one person using the office (a co-worker? A significant other?) The ceiling fan keeps the air moving and the adjustable desk lamps provide great task lighting . We love how the unsightly power cords are tucked away! The two gold chairs with flokatis are a great departure from your average desk chair. Your desk doesn't have to be pushed up against the wall - the placement of this desk takes full advantage of the plethora of available natural light, which is always so nice to have. Inspiration boards are great additions to any office. Pin up images and quotes that, well, inspire you. A bonus is that your inspiration board creates an ever-changing piece of wall art! A touch of green, like a house plant, will liven up the space. If you have a black thumb, silk flowers or other faux plants are an unkillable option . Go with an industrial chic look with a distressed wood desk with iron legs and weathered metal chairs . Pendant lighting isn't just for kitchen islands - a series of mini pendants above a desk are great sources of both ambient and task lighting. Area rugs are perfect for pulling your office furniture furniture grouping together. We LOVE this office - want to know why? They didn't forget the fifth wall, yes we mean the ceiling! The large-scale graphic wallpaper provides visual interest while the rest of the room remains a neutral white. Wallpaper with big, bold patterns can be intimidating to some, but by putting it on the ceiling, you get the effect without the bigger commitment of papering the whole room.  And that chandelier! A gorgeous modern chandelier looks great in any room, and this sputnik-inspired style gold chandelier really pops against the aforementioned wallpaper. If you don't have a room you can dedicate to an home office, co-opt a wall or corner in another room that you can devote to getting work done. The rustic wood paneling looks great with the close-to-ceiling industrial lights , and, like the first image with the face-to-face desks, the traditional desk chair was swapped out for side chairs that compliment the rest of the interior. If an inspiration board really isn't your thing, a gallery wall or other interesting wall art works just as well to give you something to look at when you need a break from staring at your computer screen. Modern home office design should be a reflection of your personal style while being conducive to getting your work done. Or playing Halo into the wee hours.
