Modern architecture in Finland. This eight-story apartment building in Finland is one of the first of its kind. Prefabricated modules of timber were plugged in like puzzle pieces to create this smart and beautiful wooden structure. Graphic corridors in a modern apartment building. This prefabricated CLT (cross-laminated timber) building is one of the first examples in the world. It's also the tallest wooden apartment block in the country. And while the exterior is organic and full of warmth, the interior design is not too shabby. Bold graphics and a clean white canvas make up the open corridors, while simple modern wall light fixtures guide the way to the residences. Small windows for big views. Wondering how durable this prefabricated, wood apartment building is?... Very CMT is an engineered wood formed by glueing together several layers of lumber at right-angles, making it much stronger than normal wood. Sine they are so lightweight, they can be installed in half the time and have less weather delays. Finland is known for its modern architecture, and this unique structure is a great addition to the country's modernist scene. All images from Dezeen
