Among the more familiar brands showing off their new collections last week at the New York International Gift Fair, was Artek, the venerable Finnish furniture company, which has, for the first time, entered the home accessories market.

Called abc Collection (“the alphabet of living),” this new product line features textiles and everyday objects like totes, blankets and oven mitts bearing an all-over graphic pattern designed in 1954 by its founder, Alvar Aalto.

The paper products, a suite of notebooks, cards and posters created in collaboration with the Berlin-based design studio Greige, brings to mind Muji’s fondness for utilitarianism and unbleached paper. And no design enthusiast, I suspect, will be able to resist the posters, screen printed with profiles of some of the most hallowed of Aalto product designs, including his once and forever three-legged Stool 60.
