Probably our favorite trend to evolve in recent years in modern furniture design is the idea of longevity. Of pieces that you will invest in and that will last a very long time. Your lifetime, yes, but even longer, to maybe even become an heirloom piece that passes on throughout your family. Alice Tacheny’s work is definitely heirloom-worthy.

She produces pieces in small batches carefully and authentically. Her range of design is pretty wide because of that time flexibility, and her modern craft style is both modern in form but also traditional in feel. These are well-made pieces. Debuting this line at ICFF this year, she plans to expand soon to small storage pieces and desk accessories, all staying with her aesthetic of walnut, white oak and leather, solid brass and blacked steel.

“I like to think about what my furniture will look like 100 years from now; what it will mean to the people who own it, and what history it will carry,” says Alice. More information and photos at Alice Tacheny Design. Buy her work at 2Modern.
