Well heavens! Pity the parents of children brought to this Manhattan penthouse, where the architect David Hotson has designed and installed a plaything for the ages: a serpentine, mirror-polished stainless steel tubular slide that winds through four floors.

Through a circular entrance in the attic, anyone brave enough to give the slide a try (claustrophobes need not bother) is in for a ride that penetrates a glass partition, coils around a column, goes through a ceiling, and ends up in the entry floor library. Hotson has helpfully included a window that filters in natural light, and the opportunity for an exist/reentry point on the 3rd floor.

None of which, sad to say, will ease the anxiety of children left to make do with those meager, communal playground slides.
