Thought all the opportunities to learn a new craft and enliven your creative senses was over with when you graduated with college? Think again. Are you a new recent grad with a brand new diploma looking to get a little dirt on your hands? Do you just like helping? This clinic is a great opportunity for you to experience designing and executing one small local service project in a community over the course of a week.

The deadline to register for founder of Austin-based Design Build Adventure Jack Sanders’ 2011 design workshop is June 15 (today!). The clinic, called Camp Design Build Adventure, will be held the week of July 11 through July 17 at El Cosmico, a vintage trailer, yurt and teepee hotel located in Marfa, Texas. The camp will provide the opportunity for others to experience designing and executing one small local service project in the Marfa community over the course of the week. Participants of Camp DBA will build a playground for children living in East Marfa.

Host of Camp DBA Jack Sanders is known for his architectural work that explores the intersection of design and place, drawing from the interrelationships between people, material, climate, music, food and art specific to each project’s region. Sanders has been collaborating with hotelier Liz Lambert and her team for the past six years.

The workshop cost is $500 per person and includes daily coffee as well as dinners on July 11 and July 16, and lunch on July 16. For all other meals, participants are on their own with cooking facilities available at El Cosmico.  for more information about Camp Design Build Adventure or El Cosmico and to register visit here.
