Steltman_Limited_Edition-1One of the lesser known chair designs by Dutch architect Gerritt Rietveld is being issued on the occasion of its 50th anniversary by Dutch brand Rietveld Originals. Rietveld’s most famous chair design remains the highly stylized and primary colored Red Blue Chair, created in 1918, and one of the lasting symbols of the De Stijl artistic movement that Rietveld helped found. But Rietveld’s Steltman chairactually a pair of mirror image designscreated for the Steltman jewelry company in 1963, is a compellingly geometric design in its own right, and Rietveld Originals has reproduced the chair to its original specifications, down to the leather upholstery in which the original chairs were clad.
