The humble wooden bird house/bird feeder has gone luxe over the last few years, with glossy, expensive varieties hung as testaments to the refined tastes of us humans more than the practical needs of our feathered friends. Maybe that’s why we like these simple plywood birdhouses made by Todd Hubler of Madison, Wisconsin’s Hubler Furniture Comany. With their rudimentary boxy shapes, all-around protection from predators, and removable roofs to allow for easy cleaning, we think they show the kind of thoughtful design elements both birds and their human caretakers will appreciate. And we especially like the artful faux wood grain pattern silkscreened onto the plywood with exterior acrylic paint.
