The late mid-20th century architect Charles M. Goodman’s personal home is now on the market in Alexandria. His design was an essay in the art of contrast as a design tool. A long, thin, and  glassy addition was layered upon a centuries old Virginia farmhouse overlooking the Potomac River as a purposeful juxtaposition of opposites so as to reveal and amplify the existential qualities of both.
