British artist Rebecca Telford makes her home in Bristol, but much of her current work is inspired by travels on this side of the Atlantic, namely the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Her paintings and prints—primarily acrylic on aluminum and screen prints pulled from hand cut stencils—focus on the built world, specifically the facades of buildings, domestic and otherwise. Windows, doors, shadows and exterior ornamentation are reduced to compositions of flat color planes and simple geometric shapes, often deliberately skewed, but always elegantly expressive. Telford says she looks to “architecture, pattern, and color,” for her inspiration, so it’s little wonder, then, that her work resonates with us.RT2-2Untitled-BlueRT3Untitled-Maroon-Red-and-OrangeDSC_8593Untitled-Red
