We were looking around the internet for something fun and interesting to write about and in a crafty mood, I said “fabric”! :) Of course etsy and Ebay have fabulous things, but where to reliably shop online for these? There are lots of sites with really old fabric, but Mid-Century is a bit harder to track down.

Here are just a few of the sites we found:

Contemporary Cloth
They have a goal to provide a resource for interesting, contemporary/modern and retro-look textiles for home or office, and original textiles created by fiber artists.  They stock quilting + home dec fabrics, bold cottons, Yuwa Japanese Fabrics, notions, magazines/books and more.

Donna Flower
This U.K. web shop is the biggest online store specializing in  beautiful antique, vintage and retro fabrics. Check out the great 50′s section! Ranging from small pieces of fabric for quilting  or yardage for curtains, or dressmaking, they have a huge stock and may have just what you are looking for.

Modern Fabrics
Fabulous for your upholstery projects,  Modern Fabrics offers vintage and reproduction fabrics, they have a fabulous section of just Mid-Century fabrics. We could have browsed this site for hours!

Retro Age Vintage Fabrics
This Australian web shop has an amazing array of fabrics. We were most drawn to the 60′s and up chic section – but you must have to keep an eye on the site because a lot of them were sold out. Our favorite is at the left here -amazing eh?  (really great retro patterns too!)

Revival Fabrics
Movie costume designers, commercial set stylists, and period re-enactors enjoy the large vintage fabric and textiles selection and quick order placement turn-around time. The site is organized into two broad categories: 1920s-1950s and 1960s-1970s. Really fun fabrics – you can spend a while here!

kh045Sharon’s Antiques Vintage Fabrics and Textiles
Sharon’s Antiques has some amazing fabrics, but what really caught our eye was the Vintage Hankies – SO cute you could frame them and use them as art all on their own!

Something Fine
Vicky Grubb’s shop, Something Fine, had me at her adorable 1960′s Sherborne Footstool, but she also sells Vintage Patchy Packs which not only have an adorable name, but really really really cute assortments of fabrics.  Sort of a limited supply, but a cute store and some fun choices!

VintageFabricAddict
Several things I loved about this store is their promise for always offering personal service: “You are dealing with me, Elizabeth, owner and vintage fabric lover.” Fabrics are sold ‘as found’: Not washed or ironed, (unless absolutely necessary) that’s your choice.

And who couldn’t stop to admire this CUTE cowboy print!
