Who would have thought that a spatula would lend itself so beautifully to the American flag? Well, J. Riley-Wasserman, for one. The young industrial designer’s Star Spangled Spatula is a handsome patriotic tool, hand fabricated from stainless steel and solid walnut by the venerable Massachusetts cutlery mill Lamson and Goodnow. Created for Brooklyn design studio Areaware, there’s also a nylon resin version in a range of colors, including—you guess it—red, white and blue.
