Skim Milk: NK House by Flow

Designed by Japanese-based architect Takashi Satoh of Flow, NK-House is a two-story residence located in Gunma, Japan. The exterior is clothed in charcoal metal panels that run linearly throughout the home. The roof is skewed to allow further lighting to enter the loft-like space on the second floor.

A small courtyard separates the master bedroom from the kitchen, living, and dining areas of the house. The strip of courtyard is surrounded by large sliding glass doors, which allow for natural lighting and transparency between the spaces. The white interior is balanced by the soft-colored wood floors and contrasted with the outside panels.

I am most intrigued with how the space is segregated throughout the home. I love how the sloping ceiling produces just enough space to include a lofted room with an amazing view and tons of natural lighting.
