If you’re lucky enough to be staying a the Standard Hotel in downtown Los Angeles anytime soon, pay a bit more attention to the blanket on the bed. The concentric pattern, rendered in grey and saffron, and with text that reads, “all people are multi dimensional,” is the creation of the artist Chris Johanson. Commissioned by hotel chain to design something specifically for its downtown L.A. branch, the undulating retro image complements the Bertoia and Panton chairs, and other Mid-Century Modern reminders throughout the premises. Luckily, a stay at the The Standard isn’t necessary to own one of these gems: the blanket, made of virgin wool and cotton, is available for sale at the hotel’s gift shop.
