Modern Brazil design is sometimes over shadowed by the dominance of mid-century American, Italian and Scandinavian linages according to to this exhibition. I can see why this is as only once in a while you come across Brazilian design while looking through the mix of mid century design. I personally love the design that came out of Brazil, it has it’s own “flavor”. The New York gallery’s Modern Brazil expo showcases the depth and breadth of its Brazilian collection: furniture, textiles and ephemera by Lina Bo Bardi, Carlo Hauner, Martin Eisler, Roberto Burle Marx, Oscar Niemeyer, Sergio Rodrigues, Joaquim Tenreiro, Jorge Zalsupin and Jose Zanine. I believe that the exhibition is over but these images still offer a great education.
