For those of us that celebrated Easter yesterday this post is in line with the season. If you don’t celebrate Easter that is ok to, hopefully there will be some new knowledge dropped on you. I don’t collect many things but just a couple of years ago I discovered these rad little stoneware eggs by Dansk and yes I keep them out all year long. I know it sounds weird but I was instantly drawn to these pieces. My conclusion for loving these eggs was this: I love the glazes that adorn organic pottery but I hate organic shaped pottery. I love exact, geometric and symmetrical porcelain, so to me these eggs give me the best of both worlds.

On the bottom is a label marked with BA/JR/GA, these initials stand for Jane Reumert, Beate Andersen and Gunhild Aaberg. Studio Strandsträde in Copenhagen Denmark was the home to these three amazing artists.

I don’t think these have much value because they were mass produced. I have picked them up fairly cheap. I found a set of images on Flickr that really shows the range of colors and sizes. I have several of the “Large” and “small” but I have yet to find any of the medium sized eggs. Make the jump to see what I think may have been a early prototype for these and check out some more images.

I like my grouping of white eggs but I still need a couple of “mediums”

The blue and greens are nice but I am still partial to the white eggs

Could this have been a prototype? This lidded jar is made in the studio Strandsträde in Copenhagen in Denmark. There a three art potters in the studio. Jane Reumert, Beate Andersen and Gunhild Aaberg. The item is from the privare collection: danish-art-pottery.dk Found here
