Soumaya Museum in Mexico City It's not often that the architecture of a museum strongly competes with the artwork inside, but that's the case with Soumaya Museum. Designed by Fernando Romero, the 6-floor museum opened in 1994. It contains over 66,000 artworks from 30 centuries of art. Interior of Soumaya Museum The grandness of the exterior is replicated on the inside. The entrance floor is spacious and beautifully bare, exposing high ceilings and white walls.  Entryway art in Soumaya Museum Throughout the entire museum, ambient and  track lighting  is used to maintain the infamous simplicity of the interior.  Photography by Cori Magee
