File this under something we would have NEVER thought to do…but also under stylish projects that absolutely could NOT be more cheap to make! You ready for this…take an upholstered chair, ottoman, stool or whatever, grab a sharpie and draw a pattern! Spotted on Little Green Notebook, Caitlin of Caitlin Wilson Design took her cheap-as-heck IKEA chair covers and covered them with a simple, casual, 101-Dalmations-esque polka dot.

The beauty of this project is how simple this could be to replicate for even someone who has absolutely zero drawing skills. These aren’t perfectly hand-drawn circles, and they’re not even something that needs a template or tracing. And the casual feel of the dots lends a real carefree feel to the whole space. Gorgeous! Steal it for your space if you want — and don’t just stick to upholstery or black — Sharpies write on just about anything and come in a lot of colors, these days!

Would you ever draw on your furniture with Sharpies? Be truthful!
