“Someday there will be a building in Richmond that is not designed by Thomas Jefferson that the public will come to see – as much for the building as for what’s in it. This is that building.” -  Will Scribner, FAIA  on the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Expansion

Will Scribner’s legacy on the urban fabric of the city of Richmond is as indelible as his legacy as a gentle and humble mentor to those of us fresh out of school who began our careers in his office as multiple generations have done over the last twenty years. Young designers at SMBW have always been given the necessary time and space under his guidance to pursue critical design inquiries, research, and their passion for architecture.

Today’s article in the Time-Dispatch is well deserved recognition of one of Virginia’s premier architects.
