The damage from Alabama’s tornadoes is staggering: 5 people & 42 homes lost, 17 homes uninhabitable and dozens more homes damaged. Don’t let the lacking news stories fool you: it’s still a mess out there and the folks there still need help. We came across an organization that looks to be doing some really great immediate help and plans to help get these folks back into homes in the near future.

HERO ”works as a catalyst for community development in areas of the Alabama Black Belt to end rural poverty. As a non-profit housing resource center, HERO provides community resources and housing education.” You can find out more information here, or learn how you can donate here.
