Michelle Kaufmann Designs is committed to providing sustainable, healthy buildings. Our Glidehouse™ homes, Sunset® Breezehouse™ homes, and Custom MKD homes are high-performance homes utilizing high-performance systems and sustainable materials.

In fact, the National Building Museum in Washington, DC is featuring a life-size replica of a Glidehouse™ home in an exhibit they are having on green building, titled The Green House.

What Is Green?
Green building is a way to approach the design, construction and operation of your home that allows for the least negative impact to our environment while providing you with the healthiest living space possible.

Why Be Green?
The responsibility for sustaining our world as a healthy environment for future generations rests with us all. Conservation and sustainability are now standard practice for many industries, with the architecture and building community fast becoming among it¹s leaders.

Elements of Green Building
Creating green buildings can be accomplished through conserving natural resources, embracing energy efficiency, and using technologies such as solar.
