Have you ever gazed over at your neighbor’s house in December and thought “I wish mine looked that cool”? Well, there really is no reason why it can’t do. All you need is a little bit of advice and some imagination, and soon your property could look as attractive and inviting as the one in the picture above. Things like this help us to get in the Christmas spirit, and if you can avoid thinking about the amount of energy you’re wasting,  everything should begin to seem a little more exciting, especially if you have some small children.

So, you probably want to know about the best way to get started, right? I always tell people to start indoors and work out because it’s the inside of the property you’ll be spending the most time enjoying – outside is for showing off to the rest of your community. Don’t get me wrong, hanging light around the exterior of the house is great, you just need to make sure you’ve sorted the basic interior design out first.

Get A Big Tree

I’m not 100% certain why Christians celebrate Christmas with a tree, but they do, and it looks fantastic. So, instead of heading to the supermarket and spending a minimal amount on plastic this year, why not get a real tree and wow all your family and friends? Just make sure the company you purchase it from have taken the time to remove any insects or birds nests; otherwise you might end up with a little more excitement than you bargained for.

Install A Roaring Fireplace

Nothing says yuletide more than burning logs on a roaring fireplace. Unfortunately, most modern homes are built without working chimneys, so this isn’t always possible. However, you can get a really cool and effective fire pit kit online which produced the same kind of results. Also, using this technique will eliminate the chances of your home becoming filled to the brim with soot.

Purchase Some Expensive Decorations

I’d generally encourage people to spend as little as possible on non-essential items, but when it comes to Christmas decorations, it’s often wise to get the most luxurious products possible. This is because cheap decorations often start to look a bit tacky after a year or two, meaning you’ll be forever in the supermarket replacing them. It’s far more sensible to pick up some quality products from more respected retailers like Harrods if you want them to last a lifetime.

Work On The Lights

You’re obviously going to need some lights for the Christmas tree, but so long as you’ve got everything else covered, now would be the best time to start thinking about the outside of your home. Be careful though, because some people are prone to overdoing things. You want your property to look like a mini Santa’s grotto, not the Disneyland illuminations.

If you’ve managed to follow all my advice, you should now have a truly beautiful Christmas set up, guaranteed to leave all your family and friends jaws on the floor.

Just don’t blame me if they recruit you to decorate their homes next year!
