Elena Christopoulos, Director of Wind Technologies and Consular PM, E3NYC and Environmental/Sustainability Consultant for SDI has joined the Board of Directors of the Green Chamber of Commerce as the Development Chair.

Elena is a wind expert who divides her time between the US, Canada and Europe working on diverse alternative energy projects, implementing wind turbines and other renewable energy systems to reduce the overall carbon footprint. She implemented the first urban turbine in North America, located in downtown Toronto, the first urban turbine in Los Angeles (for the Los Angeles Community College District) and advised on the Cape Cod offshore wind farm.

Elena has worked numerous political campaigns as an environmental advisor in the US and Canada. For the British Columbia Liberal Party, she managed and advised a staff of 30 for the Party’s convention for over 250 delegates throughout the province. She facilitated all aspects of the social networking arena, developed a $1M fundraising campaign (targeting under-35 voters) by creating and executing a comprehensive campaign utilizing social networking tools, unique fundraising events and speaking engagements. The purpose of Premier Gordon Campbell’s campaign was ‘green initiatives’ which after his election win were implemented into policy for the province.

She brings more than fifteen years of program and project management experience, which included working successfully with various stakeholders from the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Her depth of technical expertise regarding renewable energy technology is only surpassed by her ability to build relationships between people producing positive results for complex projects. She is multi-lingual and speaks English, French, German and Greek and actively plays competitive soccer. [BA, Chemistry, Queen’s University]
