Should we install electric radiant heat before staining our basement floor?

We want to stain and polish our basement floor of our new construction home but are being advised we may want electric radiant heat installed first. We already have a furnace for the space. Does installing the electric radiant heat make conditioning the space more efficient or is it only a comfort concern?

Installing electric radiant heat would be primarily motivated by comfort goals

  • Since you already have a furnace, this extra heat source will exist more-or-less solely to heat your floors.
